The new Everio X is a Full High Definition camcorder, providing the ultimate in Full HD 1920x1080 video with 9 Megapixel digital still images. Creative shooting functions include ultra- slow motion video and high-speed “motor drive” still photography - all this, in a single, pocket-sized HD camcorder.
The design of Everio X is a distinct departure from any other high def camcorder, including other Everio models. Not much larger than a smart phone, Everio X is a slab-sided rectangle without the handgrip, protrusions or indentations found on most camcorders. The design allows plenty of flexibility in how the camcorder is held – from below, above, or whatever suits the situation and the user’s preference.
The Everio X features a variety of innovative shooting functions and user-friendly controls to make it all the more accessible. For example, the scroll bar and buttons are Laser Touch sensitive. Simply glide your finger up or down the bar to browse indexing or menu items. You can also use the Laser Touch Operation for zooming or recording; there’s no need to touch the LCD screen itself, so it won't get dirty or smudged. Alternatively, if you prefer using a mode dial, such as on a DSLR camera, the Unified Control Dial allows you instantaneous access to various camera, video and special effects shooting functions.
The Everio X is also a CMOS camcorder. Its superior image quality is produced by a 1/2.33-inch 10.3 Megapixel CMOS sensor – the world’s first to be used in a Full HD AVCHD High Definition camcorder. The camcorder records at a stunning 1000 TV lines of horizontal resolution – the theoretical maximum level of 1920x1080 Full HD. That means Full HD, for no-compromise images.
When capturing the moment, quality plays a decisive role. The un- interpolated performance of the CMOS camcorder sensor, combined with a Bayer array RGB colour filter, allows the visual power of the Everio X’s Full HD 1920x1080 video to shine through, particularly when viewed on a HDTV display. The Everio X can take real, 9 Megapixel still images, enabling you to create beautiful photos and enlargements.
To capture the Everio X’s incredibly clear, bright images, JVC High Definition camcorder specialists developed a new KONICA MINOLTA high-performance lens. The camcorder allows 5x Optical Zoom, although thanks to Dynamic Zoom technology, it can actually magnify up to 8x without picture degradation. To help you take steady shots, the Everio X’s proprietary optical image stabilisation (OIS) system uses prism technology to compensate against "camcorder shake", without any of the quality loss associated with digital image stabilisation systems.
Further contributing to the high image quality of the High Definition camcorder is JVC’s HD Gigabrid Premium image processing engine. In addition, face detection technology assures accurate focus and exposure, and HDMI™ V.1.3 with x.v.Color™ provides increased colour accuracy when connected to HDTV displays.
Slow motion video recording is a key Everio X feature. The camcorder’s high-speed recording function shoots ultra-slow motion video. Any one of three speeds – 100 frames per second (fps), 250fps and 500fps – can be selected; the faster the recording speed, the slower the play back motion. With this function, approximately 2.8-second bursts of video are recorded that are then played back over a period of up to 28 seconds, a maximum of 10 times longer than normal speed.
In the still mode, Everio X offers high-speed shooting, similar to the motor drive function found in some mechanical still cameras. As many as 6 9 MegaPixel photos can be shot at up to 15 images per second, a speed that surpasses what’s offered by typical 9 MegaPixel DSLR cameras. Everio X also allows shooting of 1920 x 1080/50i Full HD video and fully 5.3 Megapixel stills at the same time — a unique advantage of this all-in-one camcorder. While recording video, photos can be shot at shutter speeds as fast as 1/4000 second without interrupting video recording.
The Everio X has a SD/SDHC card slot, enabling you to shoot footage to this readily available and cost- efficient media - simply copy video and stills to a suitable SD card for convenient, removable storage. Meanwhile, other great features to be found on the Everio X include Auto Power ON/OFF & Auto Lens Cover - just open the LCD; the power turns on and the lens cover automatically opens. Simply close the LCD to power off and close the lens cover too. In combination with Auto Power ON, with ‘Quick Restart’ you’re ready to shoot within 1 second of the LCD re-opening.
Finally, a stunning new feature of the Everio X is One-Touch YouTube™ Upload and iTunes® Export. This makes sharing and watching video easier than ever before. Simply shoot your footage, connect your camcorder to your PC using the supplied USB cable, then either UPLOAD 10 minutes of footage to YouTube™ or EXPORT video to your iTunes® library to watch later via your iPod or iPhone.
You can even use the one-touch feature to burn camcorder footage direct to DVD. Simply, connect the Everio X High Definition camcorder to the stylish and portable Everio Share Station CU-VD50 or CU-VD3 via USB 2.0 and you can archive your Full HD camcorder video files onto DVDR/RW or dual-layer DVD-R discs, AVCHD DVD and Blu-ray discs.
The Share Station is not limited to use with the Everio X or Everio camcorders, however. When connected to your PC, it can be used as an external DVD burner for videos and other data, too, whilst play back of created DVDs is also possible directly from the CU-VD50 to your connected TV/display via the supplied HDMI cable.
