► D-ILA device ensures remarkably smooth picture reproduction
The D-ILA panel originally developed by JVC has a high aperture ratio as it is designed with exceptionally narrow gaps between the pixel elements. This design effectively eliminates the "screen-door" effect as the pixel elements do not stand out, resulting in reproduced images that are smooth and silky.
► The true potential of the native contrast ratio
► D-ILA method realises an exceptionally high contrast ratio
JVC's proprietary D-ILA device achieves an exceptionally high native contrast ratio by combining extreme planarization technology, which reduces stray light to an absolute minimum, and an optical engine with wire-grid polarisers
Extreme planarization technology
The D-ILA device features high-planarization technology that reduces stray light caused by diffraction to an absolute minimum, helping to decrease light leakage and loss from the liquid crystal layer itself to ensure an exceptionally high contrast ratio.
Optical engine with wire-grid polarisers
The wire-grid design employed by JVC's optical engine uses an inorganic reflective polarising plate made from a glass substrate on the surface of which are formed an array of ultra- fine aluminium ribs. Because the polarising plate is ideally set at the optimum angle to reflect polarised light, it reduces the amount of stray light reaching the lens to an absolute minimum. The combination of this polariser with the 0.7-inch full HD D-ILA device allows an exceptionally high native contrast ratio to be achieved.
► Clear Motion Drive for clear reproduction of scenes with rapid movement
Clear Motion Drive technology successfully generates an accurate intermediate frame even for scenes with rapid movement by employing JVC's original high-precision interpolation algorithm that strengthens the precision of picture-character detection. When the video signal source is 50/60 fps broadcasting, viewers can enjoy smoother and clearer images with reduced motion blurring thanks to this unique interpolation technique that optimises the number of frames.

► Advanced video processor
At the core of its video circuitry, the projector incorporates the HQV Reon-VX video processor developed by Silicon Optix, which features precision I/P conversion and scaling to achieve exquisite video reproduction of the highest quality.
► High-performance 2x motorised zoom lens
In order to reproduce high-definition images more faithfully, the high-performance 2x zoom lens with motorised focus features a large-diameter, all-glass lens system with 17 elements in 15 groups that includes ED lenses. This lens system also reduces chromatic aberration and colour bleeding significantly to project images with precise details and exceptional depth. Whats more, the lens aperture enables adjustment of brightness in 16 steps* to display the deepest black possible.
► Certified by ISF (Imaging Science Foundation) (DLA-HD990/DLA-HD950)
The DLA-HD990 / DLA-HD950 projector has been licensed with the ISF C3(Certified Calibration Controls) mode, enabling trained dealers to professionally calibrate it to your choices of screen surface, lighting environments and video sources and then securely store precision settings into the projector. This helps to ensure reproduction of film or video content accurate to the source and excellent picture quality optimised for specific environments.
► Certified by THX* (DLA-HD990/DLA-HD950)
The DLA-HD990/DLA-HD950 projector features a THX mode, which signifies that the projector has passed the THX Certified Display Program a series of tests conducted on display devices to verify the high-definition display performance that home theatre enthusiasts demand today, ensuring that the projector will always deliver exceptional picture quality faithful to the source.

► JVC's original picture modes (DLA-HD990/DLA-HD950)
Recreating the quality of film in movie theatres with every nuance faithfully reproduced was what JVC had in mind when it equipped the DLA-HD990/DLA-HD950 with a Cinema mode. And in order to get the most out of this Cinema mode, JVC carefully analysed the difference in coloration between images from projectors and those of film.

Colours displayed by projectors and those found in film are processed differently; projectors display colours using an additive colour mixture method where the primary RGB colours are layered on top of each other while conversely, a subtractive colour mixture method that filters CMY colours out of the light source is used for film in movie theatres. With the additive colour mixture method, colours become brighter as colours are added and due to an increase in energy, eventually turn white. However, the opposite can be said for the subtractive colour mixture method where colours become darker and eventually turn black. JVC engineers thoroughly analysed the two methods and succeeded in developing an optimised picture display by incorporating advanced processing via a built-in LSI. This means that what was once considered difficult to reproduce in the home environment such as the delicate textures and nuances of film can now be seen just like at a movie theatre.
